Session 5: Anti-Asian American Hate & White Supremacy

Join our virtual community of growth and learning around social, systemic, and institutional racial inequity for our anti-racism series.

During each session, guest speakers will unpack the myriad of issues that impact the quality of life for people of color. Participants will develop an increased awareness of the elements and impact of racism while exploring racism operationalized in various forms.

About our guest speaker:

As social justice activist, certified diversity coach, and consultant, Jess works to create cultures of equity, inclusion, and belonging in nonprofits and philanthropy. She has 15+ years of nonprofit experience working in the anti-violence movement with refugees, immigrants, and BIPOC communities.

She has held multiple Executive Director (ED) positions including as the ED of San Francisco SafeHouse and the A/PI Domestic Violence Resource Project in Washington, D.C. Jess also has experience working for the United Nations Mission in Sudan and the International Rescue Committee.

Jess is a proud New Yorker currently based in Oakland, CA. She co-founded the API Giving Project and is on the board of the Asian Women’s Shelter. In her free time, Jess trains dogs, travels, and hangs out with Hansyn and Kobe, her two rescue pups.
